Are your fleet fines increasing?

Are you being fined as a company for the way your drivers behave?

Do you find that the frequency of the fleet fines that you receive is increasing? Are your drivers taking the quick route even though it is not permitted? Do you drivers park illegally?

According to a study the number of motoring fines incurred by fleet drivers rose by more than a fifth in 2016. The research, which was compiled from 353,000 vehicles in the UK, shows that fleet drivers racked up a £14m bill last year. 26% up on 2015.

Earlier this year, BBC England research found almost 4000 motorists a day are find for driving in bus lanes.

Organisations can better understand how the increase in fines and penalties affects their business by gaining back control of their fleet. Putting in place processes with fleet policies and procedures will help to ensure that they reduce the costs and the associated risks.

How can you keep fleet fines down in your business?

You can keep a lid on the amount of money that your business is spending on fleet fines with the help of a little technology. A vehicle tracking system will be able to show you where your vehicles are and where they have driven. You can drill down to look at;

  • routes that they have taken
  • the route replays on a map will allow you to feed back to your drivers about where they are driving

Teaching and reinforcing good driver behaviour will save you money in the long run. This will not just be in fleet fines but in staff retention and driver skills.
