Pokemon Go – are you using it?

by Fiona Taylor

No. Well you should be!
Pokémon is huge – over 7 million users in the first month of the launch – it is Nintendo’s first reality app for Apple and Android devices and is hugely popular with people downloading the app and hunting for monsters as they are out and about. If you haven’t heard about it, now is the time you need to see what is going on.
Now, I don’t mean that you need to download the app and go out and catch yourself a Pikachu,
Pokémon Go has been transforming local landmarks and businesses into Pokémon Gyms (where trainers can go to train their Pokémon) and PokéStops. PokéStops are places where the players can go and stock up on items they will need to catch more Pokémon.
Now, you can’t set up your business as a Pokémon Gym or a PokéStop, these are already set by the developers, but you can see if there is a gym or PokéStop close to you and use it for attracting people to your business.
What if you aren’t a PokéStop?
Don’t panic, you can still use local PokéStops in your advertising – as a bathroom showroom you could say ‘come and see our new shower range and collect your free PokéBalls our closest PokéStop’. It will get people talking and raise awareness of your business.
Or are you a gardener? Seen some Pokémon in the grounds that you are working on? Photograph them, include the pictures in your blog and show off the work that you have done.
If you have a business that you want to increase footfall to then you can use a Pokémon Go feature called a lure module. You can purchase this in the game and it will attract Pokémon to a particular PokéStop for 30 minutes, the Pokémon it attracts are visible to everyone on the game in the nearby vicinity. Why not use it during a slow period of the day, then entice people into the business and turn them into paying customers.
Pokémon Go is a big craze that is sweeping the nation, and the world, why not use it if you can?
I can ‘t help you catch a Squirtle, a Rattata or a Zubat but I can give you an idea if you driver is stopping at multiple PokéStops throughout the day! Give me a call on 01274 587748 and I can sort out a vehicle tracking unit to help you with that.
Happy hunting!
