OBD trackers – what are the benefits?

4 ways OBD trackers can improve your vehicle tracking solution.
When you sign up for vehicle tracking you get the option of having hardwired or plug and play units (OBD trackers). Hardwired units are great for a indepth look at everything your vehicle does. Plug and play units will also show you where the vehicle has been but gives you a greater flexibility in your business. The OBD (on board diagnotics) port can be used to plug a tracker straight into.
Did you think about what type of unit you were going to have when you started looking at implementing vehicle tracking into your fleet? Was the software and cost the main focus of your thinking?
Ask your supplier if they have different types of units available, and discuss your options before you buy. Here are 4 ways that we think an OBD unit will help your business;

If your business changes vehicles regularly, or you use an extra vehicle every now and then, OBD trackers will really help you. You can keep one or two available and plug them in as and when you need them.

No need to pay installation fees as you can do this yourself (NOTE you should question why some companies want to charge you an installation fee for these units)
3 – Quick and easy installation
It isn’t really installation because you are just plugging it straight into the OBD port in your vehicle. It truly is plug and go.
4 – Full tracking capability
OBD trackers will give you the same tracking capability. You will see;
- where the vehicles are,
- where they have been,
- routes they have taken and
- speeds they have travelled at.
You can still generate your reports as you would with your hardwired units.
