How to implement vehicle tracking
by Fiona Taylor
Is it going to be difficult to implement vehicle tracking into your business?
We’ve heard all the names for vehicle tracking – it’s too ‘big brother’ it’s like having a ‘spy in the cab’. It is therefore understandable why some business owners are reluctant to implement vehicle tracking. There is the potential that some staff goodwill could be lost along the installation process.
You don’t trust me! Why can’t I just get on with my job! Do you think I am not doing my job?
It doesn’t have to be a difficult process. A few simple steps and Satmo can help you implement vehicle tracking with ease.
Fear of change and the unknown.
It is understandable that people fear change, but more than this people fear the unknown. If you keep your team up to date with your ideas, include them in the planning for trackers then you can potentially stop the back office gossip and panic that it causes.
Look at your competitors
Review how your competitors are doing, are they doing better because they have a better control on their fleet?
Positivity
Explain to your teams that you don’t have time to sit and watch their vehicles moving around on a tracking site 9 hours a day. The implementation of tracking is not to catch them out but to support them. Show them how the features will help in the day to day tasks that they complete. Tracking is not just to make your life easier – it will make their life easier too.
Use your team
Have a tracking advocate in your team, someone you know will support you and use them to spread the positivity about the trackers. Let others in the team speak to their peers about their concerns, and then you can feed any information back through them.
Don’t rush
There will always be some people who will see the negatives in a new situation, but do’t rush them. Show that you are willing to listen to them and stay calm. Prove that the only reason you are making the change is to grow and progress your business, and therefore them.
Finally it won’t all be plain sailing and some people might be upset. But some hard times and difficult discussions will be worth it when you save time and money in the long term.
